First Aid at Work Re-qualification

Who will benefit from this course?

This course is designed for anyone who would like to renew their qualifications as a first aider at work. You may have been asked by your employer to renew this as your previous certificate is due to expire in 3 months or you may just want to update and practise your skills and build your confidence up as a qualified first aider. It is required that the candidates should have the right level of physical and mental fitness as well as the learning ability to be able to complete this course to become qualified.

Duration of this course:

2 days – This course will consist of 12 hours training – 6 hours each day

You will learn:

  • Basic life support
  • How to manage an incident
  • What to do if someone is unconscious
  • How to examine a casualty
  • How to control bleeding
  • What to do if someone has a burn or has been scalded
  • What to do if someone has a: Fracture, Heart attack or any Eye or Ear injuries

You will learn how to: Apply a dressing.

Report and record all incidents and the actions that were taken
You will learn all regulations and know how to use a first aid kit

Certification:

When you have completed the course you will receive a FAW certificate that will be valid for 3 years from the date of expiry of your previous certificate.

Where does the training take place?

The training can be carried out in your work place. We do ask that the following is required:

A suitable sized room that is inside and has an electrical socket point. It must be big enough for both theory and practical training as participants will be asked to simulate incidents on the floor. The room will need to be at a suitable temperature and will not be interrupted throughout the day while the course is taking place. There must be access to a toilet with running water.

What we will provide:

  • The examiner/trainer
  • A projector, screen and all videos needed
  • A flip chart
  • The presentation
  • The mannequins for all participants (1 between 2 people)
  • All training equipment and materials (including bandages and handouts)
